Weather Live Free App Review

Weather Live Free is how it gives a feel of the weather outside, without having to even look out of the window. Users can know whether it’s going to be sunny or cloudy, just by looking at their home screens.

Developed by Apalon Apps, Weather Live Free is a useful app that gives accurate weather forecasts for Android devices in real-time, along with beautiful live wallpapers and graphics.

The app has been installed up to 50,000,000 times on the Google Play Store. It is supported on all Android devices, with different versions for each device.

What We Loved

The most appealing feature of Weather Live Free is how it gives a feel of the weather outside, without having to even look out of the window. Users can know whether it’s going to be sunny or cloudy, just by looking at their home screens. One can access the weather forecast for the day, as well as extended weather forecasts for the coming hours, days or even over the next 7 days.

It’s easy to navigate between forecasts for different cities by swiping left and right. The app also gives warnings for severe weather forecasts, such as heavy rain, thunderstorms, floods, snowfall, fog and coastal or riverside dangers. Users can also be informed about unprecedented weather conditions like tsunami, avalanches, flash floods, tropical storms and winter storms. One can easily switch between detailed or compact layout to get the relevant information.

Apalon Apps have built the app completely around Android. They have included user-oriented notifications and widgets that come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.

Anton Marchanka, Senior Marketing Manager at Apalon Apps, commented, “There’s no need to look at the sky and waste time in the morning now. Whether you want to get a quick view of the current weather or get the detailed forecast for the next 7 days, to plan your trip; weather live free by Apalon Apps has got you covered”.

Marchanka added, “The app can boast a gorgeous interface that is both informative and striking. It also gives you an at-a-glance look at the humidity, dew point, precipitation and any other piece of weather information you might need”.

The app does have a gorgeous interface with all details stacked in a modern UI. With an easy setup process, and a remarkably customizable layout, one can choose the preferred weather parameters along with detailed or minimal skins to display.

Graphically, it’s one of the best-looking weather apps available. Current temperature can be viewed on the phone’s status bar. The phone gives time in both 12-hour and 24-hour format. The live wallpaper on the home screen looks great. So, it’s a great balance of beautiful pixels and accurate weather forecast!

‘Deep Forecast’ option gives users information about humidity, wind direction, wind chill, visibility, sunrise/set and moonrise/set timings and barometric pressure. The app can also work on tested Android devices like Moto360, Sony Smartwatch 3 and Samsung Gear Live. It has a sharing feature too, which lets you share weather information on Facebook, Google and Google+.

Premium members can choose from different subscription options and get access to interactive weather maps. Weather maps are useful to see weather conditions in any part of the world. The app uses Google Maps to show the exact locations of the different weather conditions, marked in different colors. Premium members also have options to choose between 1-hour and 3-hour forecast intervals.

For phones supporting Android 7.1 and higher, app shortcuts can be created to preview the current conditions for the first three added locations, without opening the app.

What We Missed

For those using the free version of this app, numerous pop-ups and footer ads could be a distraction. Although the layout is user friendly, first-time users may need to do some tapping around to figure out all the functions.

The Last Word

There is no dearth of weather apps supported by Android, but this app is gorgeous. It looks good on basic phones as well as the latest devices in the market, with images and a design suited for all screen sizes. The alerts for extreme weather conditions make it a unique app. Ads could be a hindrance, but they are necessary for a free app. To get rid of them, one can use a paid version. In-app purchases range from Rs.10 to Rs.1,599. The Android wear compatibility also gives it an edge over other apps of the same genre.

Overall, it’s a great free weather app with awesome options, which is giving tough competition to even the expensive weather apps. A smart design, gorgeous images and easy adaptability make this app highly recommended.
