Xiaomi’s Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite are going on sale today. The Chinese company launched Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite in India earlier this month. The first sale was held on November 8; with the smartphones going out-of-stock very quickly. Over 1.5 lakh Y1 and Y1 Lite devices were sold in merely 3 minutes, according to claims made by Manu Kumar Jain, VP and Managing Director at Xiaomi India.
Both the smartphones can be purchased online at the sale commencing from 12 p.m. through Amazon India and Xiaomi’s online outlet, Mi.com. The handsets will also be available offline at the company’s partners which include Reliance Digital.
The sale comes with a bundled offer which allows Idea Cellular users to avail an additional 280 GB of 4G data. Moreover, they can also avail a free one-year subscription of Hungama Music and a three-month subscription of Hungama Play.
The Y1’s 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant comes at a price of Rs.8,999 while the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant costs Rs.10,999. The Y1 Lite with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage is available at a price of Rs.6,999.
The most touted feature of the Y1 is its front-facing 16-megapixel camera with LED selfie-light. This enables you to click better selfies in low light environments. The Redmi Y1 also has a 13-megapixel PDAF camera and dual-LED flash. Another highlight is the Beautify 3.0 feature, which helps in enhancing selfie photos. The device comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back panel. Currently, the Redmi Y1 is available in two colours, Gold and Dark Grey.
The dual-SIM Y1 has a 5.5-inch HD display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. It comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass on top for protection. The handset is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 435 SoC along with 3GB RAM. Moreover, the device supports another option, the QuickCharge 3.0 and packs a 3080mAh battery. The Y1’s has an in-built storage of 32GB. This internal storage can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot.
On the other hand, the Y1 Lite comes with a 5.5-inch HD screen clocked at 1.4GHz and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor. This Nano dual-SIM handset comes with a microSD card slot which enables you to expand internal storage up to 128GB. The Y1 Lite has a 3080mAh battery as well as an IR blaster. Imaging options include a 13-megapixel PDAF rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera.
Both the handsets offer several connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS. Moreover, there is an infrared port and a micro USB port for data transfers and charging. In terms of software, both the Y1 and Y1 Lite run on Android Nougat 7.1.2-based MIUI 9.
