Rumours out in the media are citing that Xiaomi is going to beat Apple in introducing 3D facial recognition technology to its devices. It has been said that the Chinese company is testing the technology on an upcoming smart phone, the Mi MIX 2.
The Chinese microblogging website, Weibo has seen a leak by a user which shows the 3D Face Recognition. The screenshot shows the outline of a head which is asking the user to look at the phone in order to unlock it. The person who has leaked this image has said that the feature will be seen on the new MIUI 9 and would be arriving for the Mi MIX 2 exclusively.
This highly anticipated phone is going to launch on the 12 of September and new leaks about the device have sparked a fresh set of rumours. The company hasn’t given any official statement yet, but it is rumoured that they might give up on the fingerprint scanner for the facial recognition. However, there are also a number of rumours that there is going to be a fingerprint sensor embedded under the display of the device.
The information available so far about the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 says that the device is going to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC which clocks at 1.9GHz. The display is expected to be an AMOLED one of 6.4 inches which will have a resolution of 2540×1440 pixels.
The device will also have RAM of 6GB. It is expected that there will be three versions of the device. One version will have 128GB storage with a RAM of 4GB RAM, the second version will have 128GB storage with a RAM of 6GB while the third version will have storage of 256GB with a RAM of 8GB. The device is not expected to have expandable storage. The approximate price of the 6GB RAM version is INR Rs 38,423 while the 8GB RAM version is expected to be around INR 48,031.
A render that has been released recently hints that the device will have a 95 percent screen-to-body ratio and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The device is also going to have a back panel that is made of ceramic. The earphone technology will be acoustic, hence eliminating the need for any earpiece. Rumours about the existence of a dual camera set up also exist. The rear camera is expected to have 19 megapixels while the selfie camera is expected to have 16 megapixels. The phone is also rumoured to have a battery of 4,500mAh.
The device will run on Android 7.1 Nougat and will have a MIUI 9 on top. It will also have Dual Standby and two slots for SIM cards. A USB Type-C port,
fingerprint sensor, 4G, Bluetooth 4.2,WiFi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac A-GPS /), micro USB, Glonass, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor and Gravity Sensor are other things it is expected to support.
