Sony may soon announce premium Xperia XZ1

Sony is going to announce three devices on the 31st of August at its show. These devices will include the Xperia XZ1, Xperia X1 and the Xperia XZ1 Compact.

It is rumoured that Sony is going to launch the Xperia XZ1 Compact, which will be a premium version of the Xperia XZ1, at IFA 2017. It is also expected that the company will be announcing three devices on the 31st of August at its show. These devices will include the Xperia XZ1, Xperia X1 and the Xperia XZ1 Compact.

A post on Esato Forums by josephnero, a source who has consistently been providing rumours about Sony devices, states that the XZ1 Compact should be available in the market merely 10 days after the announcement at the event. This marks September 10 as the date when the Xperia XZ1 Compact will be launched.

However, it is not clear as to where the launch of the device is going to take place. It is likely that the release will only take place in the home market of Sony which is Japan. But it is also equally likely that the device will see a launch in the United States and Europe.

Another thing that is not certain is what the device is going to be named. Sony has a history of famously changing the name of its devices at the last minute. While rumours do strongly suggest that it will be called the Xperia XZ1 Compact, the last premium device that Sony released was named the Xperia X Compact. So it remains to be seen what the final name of the device is going to be.

The Xperia XZ1 phone is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 835, have a full HD display of 5.2 inches, 3,00 0mAh battery and a RAM of 4GB. The Xperia XZ1 Compact will be powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC, have a HD display of 4.6 inches, 2,800 mAh battery and a RAM of 4GB. The Xperia X1 will be powered by Snapdragon 660, have a full HD display of 5 inches, a 2,800 mAh battery and a RAM of 4GB.It is also expected that all the devices will run on the ‘Motion Eye’ camera that has been used on previous Sony devices such as the Xperia XZ Premium.

Looking at the previous prices of the premium models of Sony devices, the XZ1 Compact is expected to cost around £500. However, everything that has been said about the devices so far has to be taken as rumours and speculations until the 31st of the month.
