Redmi Note 5 would likely be launched in India on Valentine’s Day, as inferred from an event page on the Mi.com site.

Xiaomi has sent out media invites for its first event in the country this year, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on February 14. With the number ‘5’ being mentioned twice on the invite, there have been speculations of the Chinese smartphone maker launching Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus during the event in the capital. These two models had been launched in China in December 2017.

However, it now looks like Xiaomi will launch the successor of Redmi Note 4, which has been a bestseller for the Chinese company.

According to Techook, a subsidiary of the Indian Express group, Redmi Note 5 is mentioned in a subdirectory titled ‘redminote5’ in the JavaScript code for the Mi.com event website. Moreover, the code also mentions the phrase ‘all-rounder’, which was earlier used to describe the Redmi Note 4.
