OnePlus 6, likely to be model number P7819, will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, with Android 8.1 Oreo as its OS.
Although the unveiling of the new OnePlus 6 is still some time away, images have already been leaked on Chinese social media site, Weibo. This comes very soon after the Chinese electronic major launched its OnePlus 5T in a Lava Red variant in India. The leaked images show that the OnePlus 6 has a bezel-less design, glass body and a notch on top, very reminiscent of the iPhone X. The “notch” design is likely to have been included to incorporate the selfie camera and the facial recognition sensors. There also seems to be vertical dual camera setup on the back.
CEO Pete Lau had announced in January that OnePlus intended to launch in next flagship smartphone by the end of Q2 2018. The OnePlus 6 seems to be the upgrade that the company had hinted at. Although Weibo had taken down the leaked images within minutes, it did give enough time for many to copy the images and put out their own leaks.
Although we would advise readers not to take rumours too seriously, given that the company has not yet confirmed any of the reports, Chinese tech blog ITHome says that the OnePlus 6, likely to be model number P7819, will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, with Android 8.1 Oreo as its OS. The device is expected to come with 6GB RAM and internal storage of 64GB, which can be expanded. The screen is likely to be larger at 6.1 inches, with aspect ratio of 18:9.
The Chinese company had started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update in February for its flagship OnePlus 5T smartphone, while fixing some bugs and CPU vulnerability, such as Spectre attacks.
If speculations are to be believed, the new smartphone has a glossy finish on the rear, which is very unlike any design used so far by OnePlus. Of course, as mentioned earlier, the dual camera setup is also new, being placed vertically, similar to the iPhone X, but at the centre of the device on the rear.
Now, all we have to do is wait for the company to confirm these speculations, and we have an all new phone that is ready to give the competition a tough fight.
