The new videos indicate that the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S device will sport an upgraded face recognition technology and a new AI-based scene recognition feature.
Xiaomi recently released two new videos of its upcoming Mi MIX 2S smartphone, which is scheduled to be launched in China on March 27.
The new videos indicate that the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S device will sport an upgraded face recognition technology and a new AI-based scene recognition feature. There is no information yet about the price and availability in the Indian market.
The phone will be a successor to last year’s Mi Mix 2. It will bear the same design specifications of its predecessor. A bezel-less, edge-to-edge display is being expected. There are reports of the smartphone having iPhone X-like vertical dual-rear cameras. There were earlier indications of an iPhone X-like notch too, but current videos and images do not support the claim.
The company has officially confirmed that the device will support wireless charging, probably of Qi standard. This means that the phone will have a glass panel at the back.
Images online point towards the presence of a 6.1-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi has said that the phone will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, making Mi MIX 2S the first smartphone by the Chinese company to have this processor. It would have variants with 6GB and 8GB RAM, and 256GB inbuilt storage capacity.
The phone is expected to run Android 8 Oreo OS out of the box with custom MIUI 9 skin on top. There are rumors of an in-display fingerprint scanner too.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 was a big leap for the company, after its budget smartphones in India last year. The device was priced at Rs.35,999, making it the most expensive phone by the brand till date in the country. It remains to be seen if the new Mi MIX 2S, which has improved features, will top that price.
