The Lenovo S5 will come in three storage variants. The variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage is priced at approx. Rs.10,300, the variant with 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at approx. Rs.12,400 and the one with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage will be available for approx. Rs.15,400.
Lenovo launched its latest smartphone, the Lenovo S5, at an exclusive event in China yesterday. The company also launched the Lenovo K5 and K5 Play during the same event.
The Lenovo S5 will come in three storage variants. The variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage is priced at CNY 999 (approx. Rs.10,300), the variant with 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at CNY 1,199 (approx. Rs.12,400) and the one with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage will be available for CNY 1,499 (approx. Rs.15,400). The phones are scheduled to go on sale from March 23 in the Chinese market.
The S5 will run ZUI 3.7, which is based on Android Oreo, and is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC.
The device sports a 5.7-inch full HD+ IPS display with 2.5D curved glass. It offers resolution of 1080×2160 pixels. On the rear is a dual-camera setup with two 13-MP sensors. The sensors support auto-focus, f/2.2 aperture and a dual colour temperature flash. On the front is present a 16MP fixed focus sensor with 80.2-degree wide-angle lens. The rear camera supports 4K video recording with added capabilities of 1080p and 720p video recording. It also supports Bokeh effect.
Lenovo S5 measures 154×73.5×7.8 mm and weighs 155g. All the three storage variants have expandable storage capacity via a microSD card. The device houses a 3000mAh battery with support for 10W charging. The charging port is USB-Type C which also supports OTG data transmission. Other connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The rear panel of the phone has a fingerprint sensor, which can unlock the phone in 0.09 seconds. Other features include ambient light sensor, magnetometer and proximity sensor.
The device bears some resemblance to OnePlus 5T in terms of design. The front camera of this dual-sim smartphone also supports facial unlocking, which has become a hot feature in smartphones these days. Lenovo S5 is available in black and red colour variants. There is no information on its availability and price in the Indian market.
Along with the S5, Lenovo also launched its two budget smartphones; the K5 and K5 Plus. Both devices support a dual-rear camera and a 5.7-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. While the K5 has a 13MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor at the rear, the K5 Play sports a 13MP primary sensor with a 2MP secondary sensor. The K5 Play has two storage variants 32GB and 16GB, both of which are expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. Both the devices support hybrid dual-sim functionality.
Lenovo K5 comes in Elf Blue, Space Grey and Star Black color options. K5 Play will be available in Jazz Blue, Modern Gold and Punk Black variants. Reservations for the devices have already started in the Chinese market, and the official sale will start on April 17.
Like the Lenovo S5, the K5 series will also not be on sale in the Indian market for now.
