Apple discontinuing the devices - iPod Nano and iPod shuffle

Apple has only added to this nostalgia by discontinuing with the iPod Nano and the iPod shuffle

It has not been a good month for people who are nostalgic about the initial technology that companies like Windows and Apple had come out with. Apple has only added to this nostalgia by discontinuing with the iPod Nano and the iPod shuffle. The devices are going to be present in stores for a while until the stock runs out but the company is not going to be producing any more of the devices.

Both the devices have been removed from the website of Apple and the news has been confirmed by the company as well. This move comes three years after the tech giant stopped the production of the classic iPod.

This leaves the iPod touch as the only standing device from the iPod collection. The company has, however, brought about some change to the iPod by increasing its storage capacities. One version has been upgraded to 64GB and will cost USD 199 while the other version will be of 128GB and will cost USD 299. The 16GB and 64GB models were sold at the same prices before.

A statement given by the Apple spokesperson says, “Today, we are simplifying our iPod line up with two models of iPod touch now with double the capacity starting at just $199 and we are discontinuing the iPod shuffle and iPod nano.”

This move doesn’t really come as a shock because Apple had made it clear that the iPhone was going to take over the iPods due to Apple Music and the fact that anyone could own music. Apart from that, there has also been no update to the Nano series in five entire years.

Apple has, instead, been focusing on those devices that can run applications on them. Only such devices have got upgrades in the past few years due to the ever changing technology sphere. The most important application for Apple is Apple Music as it is guaranteeing the users the ownership of music, no matter what the device.

Bidding goodbye to something that was such an integral part of our childhood is certainly going to be a very bitter one. iPod Nano and Shuffle, you will live on in our memories forever.

In the past month, however, a lot of technology of the past has been facing a shutdown. There were rumors that Microsoft Paint was going to be shut down as well. You can read about that here.
