Acer Launches Nitro 5 spin Convertible Gaming Laptops in India

Nitro 5 Spin comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD display that offers resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and is IPS LED-backlit.

Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer, Acer, has launched a brand new convertible gaming laptop in India, the Nitro 5 Spin, as a starting price of ₹79,999. The laptop is currently available on Flipkart, as well as Acer exclusive stores and other retail stores. The key highlight of this device is that combines the power of a gaming laptop with the ease of a 360-degree hinge, so that the screen can be rotated all the way around to turn the device into a tablet. For this, the display also comes with the touch feature.

It seems like Acer is trying to change the prevalent perception that gaming laptops have boring designs. “We are extremely excited to launch the 1st convertible gaming Notebook – Nitro 5 Spin in India. Nitro 5 Spin’s convertible design and 8th Gen Intel Core processor with NVIDIA 10 series graphics card makes it a versatile gaming device that opens up exciting new usage scenarios for enthusiast gamers and creative professionals on the go,” said Chandrahas Panigrahi, Consumer Business Head and CMO, Acer.

A 13- and 15-inch variant of the Spin 5 was launched in America in September.

The Acer Difference

The Nitro 5 Spin comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD display that offers resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and is IPS LED-backlit. Along with touchscreen functionality, there also is a fingerprint reader that uses Windows Hello to verify the user’s identity. With its 360-degree hinge, the laptop can easily be converted for use as a tent or tablet for more convenient movie/video watching and internet surfing.

And to further enhance the experience for gamers, it also has a backlit keyboard.

What Powers the Laptop

The Acer Nitro 5 Spin has been launched in two variants, one with an 8th generation Intel Core i508250U processor, with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM, while the other has an Intel Core i7 8550U processor and 8GB of DDR4 RAM. For the gaming experience, both variants come with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics. This GPU is actually a very good inclusion for the price, offering 640 shader units, similar to its desktop variant, while supporting Display Port 1.4 and enhanced H.265 video encoding and decoding.

The device has a fairly thin form faster, with the GPU allowing the laptop to remain thin. In terms of storage, the options are 1TB HDD and 1TB HDD + 256GB SSD. The SSD is configured for speedy boot up. In addition, both variants come loaded with Windows 10 Home.

Connectivity & Battery

With regard to connectivity, the device includes Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, along with one USB port each of 2.0, 3.1 and 3.0 with Power-Off Charging. In addition, there is a USB Type C, along with an HDMI port and a two-in-one card read.

Measuring in at 381.5mm x 258.1mm x 17.9mm and weighing 2.2kg, the Acer Nitro 5 Spin is powered by a 4-cell 3220mAh battery, which the company claims can deliver up to 10 hours gaming. The only place where Acer is silent is whether the laptop comes with an adequate cooling system, given the size of the graphics a gaming laptop usually has to contend with, or whether it will be large enough for the battery that will have to power this device.

Audio

The exciting part of this laptop is its dual front-facing speakers, along with one subwoofer, all of which will help deliver the kind of sound you want to hear with those amazing gaming graphics. The device comes with Dolby Audio Premium, Acer TrueHarmony and Acer Smart Amplifier for high quality audio.

“These audio technologies fine-tune and improve the frequency balance to deepen the impact of movies, games and music with improved bass and multi-dimensional sound,” Acer added.
