Acer had launched several new notebooks and gaming laptops at CES 2018, the company has launched these models specifically for the education space, which demands devices that are more durable.
Acer has launched three new Chrome OS devices for 2018 – Chromebook Spin 11, Chromebook 11 C732 and Chromebox CXI3. The Taiwanese company announced these at the Bett show, which is held in London and focuses on education technology.
The Chrome OS has been well received in the education space, and these new devices support Google Play, allowing users to download Android apps.

The Chromebook Spin 11 is a 2-in-1 version of the Chromebook 11, and many features are common between the two devices. Chromebook Spin 11 has an 11-inch display, with resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It is a convertible device, with a 360-degree hinge that allows the screen to be flipped around. The display touch input as well as an optional Wacom EMR stylus. There are two processor options – Intel Celeron N3350 dual-core processor and Intel Pentium N4200 quad-core processor.
For connectivity, Chromebook Spin 11 has two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C ports, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports and a microSD card reader. There are options of 4GB and 8GB RAM as well as 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. It weighs 1.25kgs and measures 296x206x19.95mm and 11.65×8.11×0.78inches.
The starting price for Chromebook Spin 11 is $349.99 (about ₹22,250). It will be available from April.
Targeted for use in classrooms, the Chromebook 11 C732 is IP41-rated. It is drop tested up to 122cms or 48 inches and has a spill-resistant keyboard up to 330ml of liquid. Moreover, it is compliant with the MIL-STD 810G specs.
Chromebook 11 C732 has an 11.6-inch IPS touchscreen display, with resolution of1366 x 768 pixels. The screen has a 180-degree hinge. There are two processor options – Intel Celeron N3350 dual-core processor and N3450 quad-core processor. It has 8GB RAM and provides options of 32GB and 64GB internal storage.
For connectivity, the device has two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C ports and two USB 3.0 Type-A ports. It comes with Bluetooth 4.2 and 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi. There are models offering integrated 4G LTE. The company claims that the laptop has 12 hours of battery life. It weighs 1.26kgs and has thickness of 21.3mm.
The starting price for Acer Chromebook 11 C732 is $299.99 (around ₹17,800). It will be available from March.
Powered by an Apollo Lake 8th generation Intel processor, the Acer Chromebox CXI3 targeted for use at the library, where mobility is not that important. It comes with a VESA mounting kit, which enables the device to be set behind the display.
For connectivity, Chromebox CXI3 has a USB 3.1 Type-C port, five USB Type-A ports supporting USB 3.1 and USB 2.0, depending on the model. It also offers HDMI, microSD card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, a 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac wireless network card and Bluetooth 4.2.
The launch date and starting price for Chromebox CXI3 have not been announced yet.
