The LG V30 has finally been launched

LG V30 launched in India.

The company has also announced that its V30 2018 model will come with Vision AI, or artificial intelligence based technologies for camera and voice recognition.


The much anticipated LG V30 was finally launched at the IFA 2017 along with its variant which has a greater storage capacity called the LG V30+. The device is abundant in a number of features ranging from its FullVision QHD+ display to its dual camera set up.

Apart from these features, the device is IP68 dust and water resistance, and has voice recognition along with improved audio capacity because of Bang & Olufsen. The device also has a durability rating of MIL-STD 810G. The camera on the device has an aperture of f/1.6 which is seen for the first time in the smart phone industry.

“The V series has always been demonstrating new practical mobile technologies that contribute to high quality content creation and the V30 has not lost sight of its roots. With its F1.6 Crystal Clear Lens Camera and Cine Video mode, the LG V30 is designed to help create professional-looking content without professional-level complexity,” says Juno Cho who is the president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

The device is going to be available in a number of colours ranging from Lavender Violet to Moroccan Blue to Aurora Black to Cloud Silver. Shipping of the device is going to start on the 21st of September and will initially only take place in South Korea. It is expected that global shipping will begin in the weeks after that.

The much celebrated dual camera has an aperture of f/1.6 on the camera that has 16 megapixels along with a wide angle lens of 71 degrees. The other camera is of 13 megapixels and has a wide angle lens of 120 degrees. For clearer photographs and better colour reproduction, the cameras have a Crystal Clear Lens. The device also has a 90 degree wide angle lens of 5 megapixels with an aperture of f/2.2 towards the front.

The device runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and it also has an upgraded UI – UX 6.0+ -. It is expected that this is going to be replaced by Android Oreo very soon. The OLED display is a 6 inch QHD+ one of 1440×2880 pixels. It also has a resolution of 538ppi and support of HDR10. The smart phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and it has 4GB RAM of LPDDR4x.

The LG V30 is compatible with Daydream and has a second always on screen which was seen in its predecessor the LG V20. The LG V30 has 64GB of internal storage while the LG V30+ has 128 GB of internal storage. A microSD card can be used to increase the storage of the device up to 2TB. The battery is 3300mAh and has Quick Charge 3.0. The device weighs 158 grams and measures 151.7×75.4×7.3mm. The LG V30 also has a fingerprint scanner, facial recognition technology, and quick and wireless charging.

In terms of audio, the device incorporates a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC that is powered by Bang & Olufsen. The earphones are also manufactured by the same company and can change frequencies and decibel values. It also supports Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology. It also has “Ok, Google” voice activation which can be used to unlock the device and to play back music.

“The V30 is the first global smartphone to support MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology that allows for the streaming of high-resolution audio. MQA captures the sound of the original studio master and folds it into a small file to make high-resolution audio easy to stream. The V30’s recording capability is upgraded as well, with a receiver that doubles as a microphone to capture a broader sound spectrum, from gentle chimes to thunderous drums,” is what the company has said on its website.
