The MWC 2018 has commenced in Barcelona, and on the first day, Sony has introduced its new flagship smartphones Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact to the world, with new designs, latest Snapdragon 845 processor and improvements in camera. Available from next month worldwide, in colours such as liquid black, liquid silver and ash pink, it is aiming to give tough competition to the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ series.
Sony becomes the second company to announce its smartphone having the latest Snapdragon 845 processor, after Samsung. Both Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact are powered by this new processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory. They will both run on the new Android 8.0.
While Xperia XZ2 has a 5.7-inch FHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, the Xperia XZ2 Compact has a smaller 5-inch FHD+ display with similar aspect ratio. The Xperia XZ2 has a 3D glass surface, while the compact variant has the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.With the IP65 and IP86 certifications, both the phones are dust and water resistant.
Xperia XZ2 supports 4K HDR videos, owing to its new 19MP motion eye camera. It will be the world’s first smartphone to have this functionality. Xperia XZ2 Compact has similar specifications for camera.
The Japanese giant has said that it has included the best technology, from all its consumer products in the Xperia XZ2, which include the screen technology from its Bravia TVs and the dynamic vibration system and AR from its PlayStation engines, along with many other features.
With Xperia XZ2’s Qnovo adaptive wireless charging and 3D Creator’s scanning abilities for its front-facing camera, the brand hopes to give tough competition to its rivals like Apple iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S9.
