Samsung has launched the Galaxy J7 Prime 2 in India. This slightly upgraded version of the Galaxy J7 Prime, which was launched in 2016, is being touted as the phone for all selfie-lovers, with its 13MP front shooter, loaded with features like AR filters and stickers.
The smartphone is available at a price of Rs.13,990 and has been listed on Samsung India’s website. It is not yet available on other popular ecommerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.
The Galaxy J7 Prime 2 has a 5.50-inch full HD display, with resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. It runs Android Nougat and is powered by the octa-core Exynos 7 series processor, clocked at 1.6GHz. The single-sim device has 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage capacity, expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.
On the rear, the phone has a 13MP primary sensor, with f/1.9 aperture, support for Visual Search feature and LED flash. At the front, the 13MP shooter is a delight for the selfie lovers. The camera has features like AR filter and stickers and also supports instant editing and sharing tools. Users can play full-HD videos on the device in 60fps. The Samsung Pay Mini platform on the device enables users to make safe digital payments. The presence of a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button lends the device extra security.
The phone houses a 3300mAh battery. Connectivity options include 4GVoLTE/LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, microSD and headphones.

The AR Avatar feature can create emojis that move and look like the user. These emojis can be shared through the keyboard app to any smartphone, regardless of the recipient’s phone model. Both the phones support the Bixby Vision on the cameras, offering scene and building recognition capabilities, calorie counter and live translation features. The Galaxy S9+ is available at a starting price of Rs.64,900, while the Galaxy S9 comes with a starting price tag of Rs.57,900.
The company is now gearing up for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S10, which will likely come with 3D sensing integration and facial recognition technology. Samsung is collaborating with Israeli camera expert Mantis as well as Namuga, a Japanese module manufacturer, to lend these specifications to the device.
With its tenth anniversary around the corner, the company is focusing on premium features for its devices, which will provide high-end functionalities to users at reasonable prices.
