Panasonic has launched the Eluga I9 in India. The new budget smartphone, priced at Rs.7,499, will be available exclusively on Flipkart from December 15. The handset comes with a metal body and will be available in three colours, Champagne Gold, Space Grey and Blue. As of now, the budget phone category comprises popular offerings like the Nokia 2, Xiaomi Redmi 5A and InFocus Turbo 5.
The Eluga I9 comes with a 13-megapixel camera on the rear along with LED flash while the 5-megapixel front camera has a diffused flash for selfies. Moreover, there are pre-installed modes like panorama, watermark, burst mode as well as several filters.
The dual-SIM Eluga I9 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Panasonic’s customizations on top, which include an Arbo virtual assistant. Earlier this year, the company had launched the Eluga A3 and Eluga A3 Pro which also come with the Arbo virtual assistant.
The Eluga I9 comes with a 5-inch IPS HD display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The Eluga I9 is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.2GHz quad-core along with 3GB RAM. The internal storage of 32GB is expandable up to 128GB through a microSD card. The smartphone has a non-removable Li-Ion 2500mAh battery which is claimed to support video playback for up to eight hours on a single charge. In terms of connectivity, the phone offers 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, OTG support, Micro-USB and GPS/ A-GPS. The device comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back.
The company launched the Eluga C in Taiwan in November this year. It made its debut in Taiwan at a price of TWD 6,000 (roughly Rs.12,900). This smartphone has a bezel-less display and comes with a dual camera system.
