The Oppo A83 has been launched at a price tag of CNY 1,399 (approximately Rs.13,700) in China. This new mid-range phone offers an aspect ratio of 18:9 with limited bezels. Pre-bookings for the phone will commence on December 29. The A83 will be available in two colour variants, namely Black and Champagne. A China listing from Oppo says that buyers may get a free QY7 Bluetooth headset along with the device. As of now, there are no details of the availability and launch of the A83 in other regions.
The company had recently launched the Oppo A75 and 75s in Taiwan. Both the phones offer bezel-less full screen displays with an aspect ratio of 18:9. They have similar mid-range specifications and are different only when it comes to inbuilt storage.
This dual SIM smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat-based Color OS 3.2. It is powered by a 2.5GHz octa-core SoC coupled with 4GB RAM. The 5.7-inch HD+ LCD display offers a resolution of 720×1440 pixels with a curved 2.5D glass on top. This smartphone packs in a 3090mAh battery.
The Oppo A83 sports a 13-megapixel rear sensor with LED flash. The fingerprint scanner is located below the rear camera. The 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls features Oppo’s AI-based beautification technology. The device offers an internal storage of 32GB which can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. A key highlight is the facial recognition technology which is capable of unlocking the device within merely 0.18 seconds by scanning 128 feature points on a user’s face.
Connectivity options include 4G, micro-USB, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 /b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as Wi-Fi Direct. Sensors on board comprise an accelerometer, a proximity sensor and a digital compass. The device measures 150.5×73.1×7.7mm and weighs 143 grams.
