The phone is the perfect homage to Star Wars, which has enthralled generations of movie buffs with its unique characters, story-telling and hi-tech visual effects.
This seems to be the year of high-end smartphones in India. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus had earlier launched its flagship phone OnePlus 5T in India, which was sold out in less than 5 minutes in an exclusive presale launch on Amazon in November. Now the company has launched the new OnePlus 5T exclusive Star Wars Edition in the country in an event in Mumbai on December 14.
The launch of the product comes just a day before the release of the movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi, in India, and brings an end to the much anticipated wait of die-hard Star Wars fans, who had been waiting for the product launch since its announcement at the Bangalore Comic Con event, earlier this month.
The phone is the perfect homage to Star Wars, which has enthralled generations of movie buffs with its unique characters, story-telling and hi-tech visual effects. Inspired by the white salt plains of the mineral planet Crait featured in the movie, the phone has been lent a beautiful Sandstone white colour. At the back is the famous Star Wars logo, surrounded by a red border. Both the back panel and the fingerprint sensor are white coated.
The black and white styled phone immediately reminds one of the storm troopers in the movie. The phone also comes with 10 pre-loaded Star Wars wallpapers and other software customizations.
Features wise, it is similar to the regular editions of OnePlus 5T. A 6.01-inch full HD, optic AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display also has a 401ppi pixel density and a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. OnePlus 5T is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC processor, which is clocked at 2.45GHz.
The phone has a dual camera set-up. The back camera is 20MP having Sony IMX376K sensors, while the front camera is 16MP, having Sony IMX398 sensors. The rear panel has a finger print sensor. Other sensors on board include an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor and a digital compass. The limited edition comes with a 128GB inbuilt storage and is powered by a 3300mAh non-removable battery.
The limited edition goes on sale at midnight of December, 15 and will be available till December 22, 2017. In India it has been launched at a price of Rs.38,999. One can buy it on Amazon India, oneplusstore.in, and also the OnePlus experience stores in Bangalore and Noida. It is to be noted that the phones in stores are only available till December 19. The company has also planned to launch pop-up stores in the top cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kochi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Kolkata, where users will be able to purchase this phone.
One Plus has had quite an eventful year with its flagship phone OnePlus 5T. After its launch in India, in November this year, the phone got an OxygenOS 4.7.4 software update, within a month. Later, it also launched a beautiful Lava Red colour option for the phone in China, though it is still not available in India.
