Nokia 5 offline sale begins from 15th August 2017

Offline pre booking for this phone had begun on the 7th of July and was made available only in a select few cities. These cities included Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru.


HMD Global, the company that has revived the Nokia brand, has announced that the Nokia 5 is going to go on sale on the 15th of August. These reports have been confirmed by both the Indian Express as well as Gizbot.

Offline pre booking for this phone had begun on the 7th of July and was made available only in a select few cities. These cities included Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru.

The Nokia 3 was priced at INR 9,499, while the Nokia 5 is going to be priced at INR 12,899. This price is closer to what the price of the Nokia 6 is going to be. The Nokia 3 went on sale on Chroma online while the Nokia 6 is expected to go on sale on Amazon, on the 23rd of the month. Hence, one can expect the Nokia 5 to be sold on these mediums very soon as well. The Nokia 5 will run on an updated version of Android Nougat 7.1.1 and HMD Global has also confirmed that it will be rolling out an Android O update very soon. The phone will have a dual camera with a rear camera of 13 megapixels and a front camera of 8 megapixels. The cameras aperture is f/2.0 with a field of view of 84-degrees, auto focus, dual toned LED flash, and a micron pixel size of 1.12. The phone will have a resolution of 720p and a display of 5.2 inches. It will also run on a battery of 3,000 mAh that will be non-removable.

The device will have 2GB RAM, will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, 16 GB internal storage along with a microSD card that increases storage up to 128 GB. The Nokia 5 measures 149.7×72.5×8.05mm and the company has said that it is a “perfect fit for those who need great design, specs at its price.” It also has a “seamless aluminium 6000 series” body that gives the Nokia 5 a rounded and smooth shape.

The Nokia 5 does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack but it does support USB OTG, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, Micro USB (USB 2.0) and Wi-Fi. The phone is also filled with a number of sensors such as proximity sensor, Hall sensor, fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, Accelerometer (G-sensor), e-compass and gyroscope.

The phone is going to be available in four colours: Silver, Matte Black, Copper and Tempered Blue. However, at the beginning of sales the phone will only be available in the Matte Black option. The other colours will be made available at retail stores in the upcoming weeks.

HMD Global has also revealed a number of offers on the sale of the Nokia 5 a well. Vodafone customers will get 5GB data every month at INR 149 per month, for a period of 3 months.
