Nokia 5 Now With 3GB RAM, Priced at Rs. 13,499

The 3GB RAM variant of Nokia 5 costs Rs.13,499 and comes in two colours, viz. Matte Black and Tempered Blue and will be exclusively available on Flipkart for a week starting from November 7, 2017.


HMD Global has updated its Nokia 5. This budget-friendly phone now comes with a new 3GB RAM variant. The original Nokia 5 model with 2GB of RAM was launched in August 2017 in India at a price of Rs.12,499. Offline pre-booking for this phone had begun on July 7 and it was made available only in a select few cities.

Expressing his views on the new variant, Ajey Mehta, Vice President India, HMD Global, said, “Nokia 5 has already forged a reputation for being a beautifully crafted phone which punches well above its weight. Now we have added more memory so that fans can get enhanced performance in the same precision engineered design.”

The 3GB RAM variant of Nokia 5 mobile costs Rs.13,499 and comes in two colours, viz. Matte Black and Tempered Blue. The phone will be exclusively available on Flipkart for a week starting from November 7, 2017. The Nokia 5 can be purchased from select retail stores across India from November 14, 2017 onwards. Currently the E-commerce giant is listing Jio-Nokia’s offer for additional data on the smartphone. The offer comprises 5GB of additional 4G data which a user can avail of on a recharge of Rs.309 or more. This offer is valid for a total of 10 recharges up to August 31, 2018.

Will Get an Android Oreo Upgrade Soon

Except for the RAM, the 3GB variant is similar to the 2GB Nokia in terms of specifications. The   Nano dual-SIM smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box and will be upgraded to Android Oreo soon, according to the company. The handset has a 5.2-inch HD IPS LCD display offering a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. It also comes with a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass on top for protection.

The latest model has a fingerprint sensor, embedded in the home button. Moreover, the Nokia 5 comes with a Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 505 GPU. The handset is powered by a non-removable 3000mAh battery. Nokia’s 3GB variant offers an internal storage of 16GB which is expandable up to 128GB through a microSD card.

As for imaging options, the Nokia 5 has a 13MP rear camera offering phase detection auto focus or PDAF, a dual-tone LED flash and a f/2.0 aperture. The front has an 8MP autofocus camera and a f/2.0 aperture. Besides this, the smartphone offers several options for connectivity, which include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Micro-USB with OTG, FM radio with RDS and a 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on board comprise an accelerometer, digital compass, an ambient light sensor, a gyroscope and a proximity sensor.
