Nokia 2’s large battery along with the Qualcomm processor is capable of working in an efficient way when it comes to power usage.
Imagine being caught up in a traffic snarl with nothing but your mobile phone to keep you occupied. However, in such a scenario, the battery of your smartphone drains out within a few hours. The new Nokia 2 from HMD Global seems to be an answer to your ‘battery woes.’ This smartphone’s 4,100 mAh battery can last for more than two days on a single charge, according to claims made by the company.
The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset coupled with an Adreno 304 GPU. Nokia 2’s large battery along with the Qualcomm processor is capable of working in an efficient way when it comes to power usage. This enables users to avail 4G LTE for connectivity, capture ample images, and yet have some juice left after using the battery for two days. The company says that while working on the battery of Nokia 2, their focus was on the phenomenal usage, and not standby time. Well, excessive usage is very true in the case of millennials in India who are obsessed with selfies, social media as well as browsing on an LTE network. The Nokia 2 comes with several other options for connectivity as well. These include dual-SIM card slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VoLTE and GPS.
In terms of memory, the Nokia 2 comes with 1GB of RAM and an internal storage of 8GB. This storage can be expanded up to 128GB through a microSD card slot. Another key highlight of the Nokia 2 is the 5-inch LTPS HD screen which offers high contrast in terms of a 13000:1 ratio. This power-efficient display has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection.
The Nokia 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. It is the first budget smartphone from the company to come with voice assistant. It is expected that the operating system will be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo soon. The handset also features Google Assistant, which has an option for generating results in Hindi.
As for the optics, the smartphone offers an 8-megapixel auto-focus camera with flash on the rear. There is a front-facing 5-megapixel camera as well. Besides this, the device sports ambient light as well as proximity sensors at the front.
HMD Global launched the Nokia 2 in India on November 23, 2017. The company had unveiled the Nokia 2 at a hands-on session on a moving metro train in New Delhi earlier this month. The smartphone will cost Rs.6,999 as can be purchased from major retail stores. As of now, the device is not available online. The handset comes in three colours, Pewter/Black, Copper/Black and Pewter/White.
The company has tied up with Reliance Jio to offer additional data to users. Jio subscribers can avail 5GB of additional 4G data on a recharge of Rs.309 or more. However, users can avail not more than nine recharges up to August 31, 2018. HMD is also providing a 12-month insurance for Accidental Damage Servify to users who opt for the Kotak 811 (savings) account and activate it by depositing Rs.1,000 during the launch period.
