Moto G5S in Midnight Blue Launched in India

Moto G5S “special edition” Midnight Blue variant is available at all Motorola retail stores, as well as across Moto Hubs in India.

Motorola, owned by Lenovo, announced the launch of a new colour variant of its Moto G5S smartphone in India on October 14. The new Midnight Blue option follows the launch of the Moto G5S in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold in August this year. This “special edition” Midnight Blue variant is available at all Motorola retail stores, as well as across Moto Hubs in India.

Launched at a special discounted price of ₹14,999, the company also announced that the Moto G5S would be available at a special offer price of ₹12,999, with EMI options, for buyers till October 21, in view of the Diwali season.

“This festive season, we have come up with the new contemporary colour variant that will connect with our new-age customers’ sense of style and offer them the opportunity of being a part of the most popular Moto family,” said Managing Director of Motorola Mobility India, Sudhin Mathur.


Key Specs

Apart from the colour, the smartphone is the usual Moto G5S. This means that is has a 5.2-inch Full HD display, offering resolution of 1920 x 1080. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, while the body is made of high-grade aluminium.

It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core 1.4 GHz processor, with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Storage is expandable to 128GN with a microSD card. The operating system is the Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.

In addition, compared to the Moto G5, which has a 2800mAh battery, the G5S comes with a 3000mAh battery, along with Turbo charging support. There is also a fingerprint sensor, which is located at the bottom of the display.

The primary camera is a 16MP one, with aperture of f/2.0 and a single LED flash, while the front camera is a 5MP wide-angle, selfie camera that also has an LED flash and aperture of f/2.0. The rear camera also boasts phase detection autofocus of PDAF.

Although the smartphone is not water-resistant, it has received a water-repellant nano coating. Motorola also announced that the larger variant of this phone, the Moto G5S Plus, is available at a discounted price of ₹16,999 via Amazon India. The Moto G5S Plus comes with a 3,000mAh battery, 4GB RAM, Android Nougat out-of-the-box.
