The company has also announced that its V30 2018 model will come with Vision AI, or artificial intelligence based technologies for camera and voice recognition.
LG has announced plans to launch the 2018 version of its V30 flagship phone at the upcoming MWC. The Mobile World Congress is scheduled to be held between February 26 and March 1 in Barcelona, Spain.
The South Korean smartphone maker had launched the LG V30+ in the Indian market in mid-December last year.
On its official website, LG said that these technologies were developed with the “objective to deliver a unique and more intuitive user experience, focusing on the camera and voice recognition.”
The statement further added, “Vision AI automatically analyzes objects and recommends the best shooting mode from among eight modes: portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset. The angle of view, color, reflections, backlighting, and saturation levels are all taken into consideration as the phone analyzes images in its database to determine what the camera is focusing on in order to recommend the best setting.”
Apart from Vision AI, the other camera features that LG V30 2018 would come with include dual lenses, wide-angle low-distortion lenses and the all-glass Crystal Clear Lens.
LG mentioned that it had collaborated with a partner in image recognition to analyze more than 100 million images to develop the phone’s image recognition algorithms.
The smartphone maker claims that Vision AI would also be capable of providing shopping advice through smart image recognition. When the camera is pointed at an object, the phone would automatically scan QR codes, initiate an image search or provide information regarding where one can purchase the item for the lowest price as well as recommend similar products that the user may be interested in.
LG V30 2018 would sport a dual camera setup.
The currently available LG V30 already supports 23 voice commands. Although these use Google Assistant, some of the commands are exclusive to LG phones. The 2018 version of the flagship phone would support 32 exclusive voice commands.
Users would be able to use voice commands for various new features, such as image search, QR code scanning, shopping search, Panoramic Photo, Food Photo, slow-motion video and low-light photo.
Although the company has not provided any official update, there are rumors that the next LG V30 model would be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. It would come with 256GB internal storage.
There are speculations of the LG V30 2018 model hitting the South Korean market in the second week of March. The phone is expected to be priced at KRW 1 million (approximately ₹60,000).
The LG V30+ that is available in the Indian market offers 128GB internal storage and comes with a price tag of ₹47,999. This model has a dual rear camera set up of 16MP and 13MP. The front camera is 5MP. The phone runs Android Nougat and is powered by a Snapdragon 835 octa core processor.
