Honor, sub-brand of Chinese electronics company Huawei, launched the Honor Holly 4 Plus in India on November 2, 2017. This latest offering from the Chinese tech giant is an upgraded version of the Honor Holly 4, which was launched in early October 2017. The company has also recently launched another budget smartphone, under ?20K, the Honor 9i, in October.
Currently the new budget smartphone can be bought at Honor partner stores across the country, starting November 3 onwards. The handset, which is targeted at the youth, is priced at ?13,999, and available in three colour choices of Grey, Gold and Silver.
Expressing his views on the launch, P Sanjeev, Vice President Sales, Huawei Consumer Business Group India, said, “The success of the Holly series was so overwhelming that it encouraged us to continue making improved and revolutionary products. The Holly 4 Plus has been curated to meet the preferences of our consumers better. We have received an exemplary response in all our recent launches from the tech experts and our target audience. This is another offering from us with an aim to cater to the diverse Indian market and serve it in the best way possible.”
The Holly 4 Plus has an 8.2mm thin metal body and comes with a 4000mAh non-removable battery. This battery is capable of offering up to 20 hours of video playback, 66 hours of music playback or approximately 15 hours of surfing on 4G Internet, according to the company. In addition, the dual-SIM handset has a 5.5-inch HD display that offers resolution of 720×1280 pixels and has a 2.5D curved glass on top.
The device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC with 3GB of RAM. The processor runs on Android 7.0, with EMUI 5.1 on top. The Emotion UI or the EMUI is Honor’s proprietary user interface for its smartphones. This interface is fairly simple, customizable and capable of adapting to each person’s patterns of usage. In addition to this, the handset’s 32GB internal storage capacity is expandable up to 128GB through a microSD card.
The company highlighted the camera capabilities of the Honor Holly 4 Plus, which comes with an 8-megapixel front camera. This camera has a beauty mode which allows users to click better images due to a focus speed of 0.3sec.
The 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash is one of the most striking features of this phone, since its 1.25-micron sensor works well in low-light conditions as well. Below the camera, there is a fingerprint sensor that is capable of unlocking the phone in just 0.3 seconds. Moreover, the fingerprint sensor can be customized for shortcuts, just like the Honor Holly 4. Besides this, the default camera app includes features like slow-motion, Pro as well as time-lapse mode.
In terms of connectivity, the options available are more or less similar to the Holly 4. There is an accelerometer, proximity, an ambient light sensor and a 3.5mm audio jack on-board. IN addition, the device offers 4G VoLTE, Micro-USB along with OTG support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth v4.1.
