Xiaomi Mi A1 and Honor 7X are two of the latest smartphones in the budget segment, with dual-camera setup and premium features. Both phones were launched last year and lock horns with each other in the mid-priced segment.
Both the budget smartphones have similar features and are available in the same price range. While the price of Xiaomi Mi A1 starts at Rs.13,999, the Honor 7X is available in two variants, with the 32GB one priced at Rs.12,999 and the 64GB variant available at Rs.15,999.
Xiaomi Mi A1 flaunts a metal unibody design. The presence of broad bezels makes the device feel wider in your hand as compared to Honor 7X. Its design is familiar with a matte finish and rounded corners. Honor 7X, on the other hand, has a more futuristic design, with a bezel-less display and metal unibody chassis. It is in-line with the modern handsets with its impressive 77% screen-to-body ratio and a tall glass display.
Coming to measurements, Mi A1 has a thinner 7.3mm chassis as compared to the 7.66mm chassis of Honor 7X. They both weigh 165g.
Display wise, Honor 7X has an advantage, due to its bezel-less design. It sports a 5.93-inch HD display and offers crisp and vibrant colors. Mi A1 has a 5.5-inch IPS display with the same resolution.
Both the devices have dual rear camera modules. Honor 7X has a 16-MP primary sensor with a depth-sensing 2MP lens on the rear panel. Xiaomi Mi A1 is the brand’s first smartphone in India that sports a dual rear camera setup. They are both 12 MP cameras, with the secondary camera having telephoto lens which offers optical zoom functionality. Honor 7X scores high on the front camera, with a selfie shooter of 8MP as compared to Mi A1 which has a front camera of only 5MP.

Honor 7X has an octa-core Kirin659 processor, paired with 4GB RAM. Mi A1 has the octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, paired with 4GB RAM. While Xiaomi Mi A1 has 64GB internal storage, expandable up to 128GB, Honor 7X has both 32GB and 64GB variants, with both being expandable up to 128GB.
Mi A1 runs on Android Nougat, which means there is no bloat-ware to affect its performance. On the other hand, Honor 7X comes with EMUI 5.1 on Android 7.1, which has its fair share of bloat-ware. Both the phones will get the Android Oreo update. Mi A1 will get it as soon as it becomes an Android One device, while Honor is yet to confirm its schedule for the same.
So, Mi A1 has the advantage of Android One, giving it an edge over Honor 7X. Moreover, Google has announced that the device will soon get the Android P update. Honor 7X scores high on its futuristic bezel-less design and its better front camera, making it ideal for selfie lovers.
