This standalone app has several interesting features like chat migration, business profiles, analytics, landline support, business details like a company's website and address, and an Away Message which is automatically sent to customers.
WhatsApp is expected to launch a standalone Business app soon. This app will have both verified as and non-verified profiles. Currently, a private group is testing the app which will be introduced as the WhatsApp Business app. In a dedicated page, the Facebook-owned company described the features of this app, which is likely to hit the market a few weeks from now. A new FAQ on the company’s website elucidates on business accounts, key features as well as how to distinguish between non-verified and verified profiles. Companies in Asia have been using the popular instant messaging service to coordinate informally with their customers and clients. To recall, WhatsApp had rolled out the business-centric verified profiles earlier this year. These profiles enabled companies with authentic accounts, displayed via a tick mark, to interact with users.
In the new FAQ, WhatsApp indicates that while chatting you will be able to check the profile of your business contact. This will enable you to know about the type of business account the contact is using. A business account which has been verified will show a green check mark badge in the profile. On the other hand, an account with a profile comprising a grey question mark badge will denote an account which is using the Business app but has not been verified or confirmed by the company. The FAQ also states that the Business app will provide you with tools to enable you to control your business experiences. You will have the option of blocking business accounts as well as reporting that they are spam right within the app. You will be able to do this just by tapping on the Menu button and clicking on the block or Report spam.
Prior to launching the WhatsApp Business app, the company’s new FAQ, first seen on the website WABetaInfo, intends to clarify doubts so that users do not download any fake app. A description of the business app on the Play Store says, “As a test partner for ‘WhatsApp Business’, you have early access to a wide range of new features that we’ve built with you in mind. As you experiment with what this new app has to offer, please share your experiences with us so that we can improve the product.”
The WhatsApp Business app’s conversation bubble has a logo which has the alphabet B in place of the calling symbol in the regular WhatsApp. Also, the new app’s title bar clearly says WhatsApp Business. This standalone app has several interesting features like chat migration, business profiles, analytics, landline support, business details like a company’s website and address, and an Away Message which is automatically sent to customers. You can operate the Business app along with your personal account on WhatsApp or separately.
Post the recent introduction of the much-awaited Delete for Everyone and Live Location features for users of Android and iOS, WhatsApp is likely to launch its much-awaited in-app payment feature in December this year.
