There are speculations of the Chinese smartphone maker planning to launch three new variants in its P series flagship range at the event.
Huawei is gearing up to launch its latest series of awesome smartphones at an event scheduled to be held in Paris on March 27. The company is expected to unveil the Huawei P20 series at this event.
Huawei had launched the Honor 7X in India in December last year, and the phone has been very well received in the country.
There are speculations of the Chinese smartphone maker planning to launch three new variants in its P series flagship range at the event. The media invite sent by Huawei for the Paris event has three large ‘O’ symbols next to the Eiffel Tower. Some believe this indicates three variants being launched – P20, P20 Lite and P20 Plus.
Others speculate that the three large ‘O’ symbols hint at one or more variants sporting a triple camera setup on the rear. In fact, the invite says “See Mooore With AI”, which seems to point towards three cameras. The latest devices could also come with more AI features than seen on the company’s previously launched models.
As per rumors, P20 Lite would sport a dual camera setup on the rear, while the other two more premium variants – P20 and P20 Plus – may come with three cameras on the back.
According to leaks on TigerMobiles and OnLeaks, Huawei has made two prototypes, one of which has a home button below the screen and one that does not. This may mean the presence of facial recognition feature to unlock the phone, although this does not rule out the traditional fingerprint sensor being housed at the back.
These leaks also suggest that P20 Lite would feature a 6.1-inch display, with resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. It would sport a 2900mAh battery.
According to a report by Spanish website ComputerHoy, the latest phones would have a 5.8-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and would have rounded corners sporting the look of the Samsung Galaxy S8.
The report further states that P20 Lite would be slightly larger than the Huawei P10, which measures 148x71x7.2mm.
The Spanish website has leaked images indicating the rear cameras to resemble the vertical setup of the iPhone X. The images further showed that the Huawei P20 Lite would sport a dual rear camera setup in an upright position in the upper left corner. It would have LED flash and Hybrid Zoom.
The P20 range of phones is expected to be powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It might run EMUI 8.0 based on top of Android 8.0 Oreo.
Huawei would be participating in the MWC (Mobile World Congress), scheduled to be held in Barcelona between February 26 and March 1, However, the latest range of Huawei P20 do not seem to be ready enough to target their launch at the MWC.
