Fitso App Review

Fitso App customized fitness plan will take into account your current level of fitness and then design your workout plan for both the gym and at home.

Launched in August 2015, Fitso claims to be a comprehensive app for all fitness enthusiasts, regardless of whether you want to train for a marathon, build muscles or just lose weight. What makes this app stand apart for the crowd is that it is geared to the Indian audience, so comes with features like an Indian Calorie Counter, which takes away the hassle of trying to figure out how a Western diet plan can be fitted into the Indian daily routine.

What We Loved

“While the market is filled cookie-cutter solutions, which usually fail to deliver results, there is a huge demand for providing personalised and affordable fitness solution. We aim to cater to this segment,” says Ajitesh, Head of Growth at Fitso. And the app has certainly been able to do that.

As true Indians, the first thing that hit us was that Fitso has myriad free plans, which you will have to pay for on most other fitness apps. For instance, there are free workout plans for both women and men, free running plans, based on distance, such as full marathon, half marathon, 10k 5k and son, then there is a free nutrition guide, step counter, accurate GPS running, and more. So, if you missed participating in the Mumbai Marathon 2018, there is no reason why you shouldn’t do so next year.

The best part is that you get a comprehensive app, which not only gives you plans and the Indianized calorie counter for ease of tracking your diet plan, but also plans for building muscle, losing weight, gaining weight, daily motivation to keep you going, workout videos, challenges, and much more. And, you can customize it to achieve your own specific fitness goal.

Another point in Fitso’s favour is that it is easy to use, both the app and its plans. So, instead of trying out a solution that will be challenging to sustain, given your everyday commitments, you get the option to hire a personal coach online for fitness, nutrition or running, who will guide you to achieve your goals in the shortest possible time frame.

This option to hire a personal online coach is only available for India-based users, and is available at an affordable rate of ₹499 per month, which gives you access to a team of coaches, who will guide you through weekly one-on-one consultation, personalized plans, and unlimited chats for daily follow-ups to motivate you to push harder to achieve your goals. For instance, the nutrition coach will give you weekly diet plans, new recipes, and even ensure that the plans suit your needs, such as if you are pregnant, diabetic or have high blood pressure. The customized fitness plan will take into account your current level of fitness and then design your workout plan for both the gym and at home.

What We Missed

For an app this comprehensive, what we missed was the ability to track one’s workouts on a monthly basis. So, tracking the total number of kilometers run or walked a month or total calories burnt and so on might give more of a boost to continue one’s efforts the next month too.

And if you can see how you are doing more or better each month, it does act as a very potent motivator.

Some users have also reported a bug with the trackers, with some saying that the tracking feature might stop without warning, which means that you have to restart the tracking all over again. Of course, some have also expressed disappointment with having to pay for the diet planning feature. What we also missed was the ability to set the reminder as per the user’s convenience. So, I can’t really set the reminder to go off at a specific time in the morning.

The Last Word

On the whole, this is a very good app and definitely a must-have for fitness enthusiasts. Yes, you need to pay for the personalized services, but no other app gives as much as this one for free. For instance, the Indian calorie counter has a database of more than 100,000 food items. In addition, you can integrate the GPS Running Tracker with Google Fit and check real-time stats for your activities. You can also get audio cues and an audio coach to stay on track with your fitness goals.

With more than 3,000 workout videos that address all major muscle groups and fitness levels, you can do a lot for free. And if you do want to step your game, it costs less than a meal at a restaurant. Apart from all this, you also have various tips from experts, warm-up and cool-down exercises and so much more that they more than made up for the little glitches that we did face.

We would definitely recommend this app for anyone wanting to get fit and lead a healthy life.
